I haven’t posted about our allotment for a while, here’s an overdue photo update on how our allotment plot is coming along.
The early days:
After a lot of hard work:
To recap, in April 2011 we (hubby and I) were offered a brand new plot at the village allotments. We spend quality time together at our allotment, working the plot and relaxing afterwards. The vegetable garden at home is very much mine, which is nice but I do enjoy hubby’s company at the allotment, sipping tea and chatting about our achievements so far. It’s been back-breaking at times but we’ve had a lot of laughs too.
I’m glad to hear your hubby has helped. I thought you must be superwoman to do it all yourself and keep the veg garden going at home. You have still achieved a lot in a year, starting with a patch of grass and weeds as you did.

I couldn’t have done it without his help. Thankfully it has sparked an interest in grow your own gardening for him – which can only be a good thing!

That’s one very, very nice allotment you have, Karen, absolutely fabulous! So much work has gone into creating all those wonderful beds, a real credit to you and to your hubby! I am so impressed by your achievements, I really am!

Thanks! I really wasn’t sure if we were doing the right thing by taking on the extra commitment, but, I’m really glad we did. Once the real hard slog is out of the way it’s just a matter of maintaining what you’ve done. We still have a bit to do, the blue tarp is covering unworked soil. We ran out of wood to make raised beds.
